This event has ended.
On Friday we are covering horse racing and football. Check-in around 11:00 a.m.
We produce our ratings for every horse race in the UK and Ireland. Our focus is always on the top 4 rated; from those, we seek to unlock the value in the races. Before racing starts today, we will go through the races at York, highlighting horses at good odds and hopefully pointing you toward some nice win or each-way bets.
Educator @ 12/1 is the top-rated horse in this race. It was available at 14/1 earlier this morning, and it's a back bet for us each way at the price. Balance Play is 2nd Rated and the current market favourite. Short enough in this race, and we are swerving it. Marhaba The Champ is 3rd Rated around 13/2 currently. A nice each-way price. A big-price outsider holds the 4th spot in the ratings, Savvy Knight @ 25-33/1 on offer.
Courage Mon Ami is top-rated in this race. Short enough for us, and we are swerving it in favour of something that offers better value. Broome @ 8/1 looks to be the each-way pick. 2nd rated on the ratings and not without chance. River Of Stars is 3rd rated at around @ 14/1, 16/1 in places. Quickthorn is 4th rated, available at around 4/1 currently. The value in this race is with Broome and River Of Stars.
King's Gamble is top-rated at around 9/2 currently. It's a backable price and wouldn't put anyone off this one. However, we are swerving it, instead looking for something more juicy at the price. Johannes Brahms is 2nd rated at around 3/1, which is short enough. Action Point is 3rd rated @ 12/1. Needs to improve to play a part in this, but at the odds, it's a chance worth taking each way. And 4th rated is Lake Forest @ 20/1 or thereabouts as one with an outside chance. We are playing the biggie angle each way in this race, with Action Point to improve and Lake Forest to sneak a place if those at the front of the market fail to deliver.
The 4 at the top of the ratings are closely matched. The top rated is Dramatised @ 14/1 currently. Bradsell is 2nd rated @ 5/1, the possible each-way angle in the race. Aesop's Fable is 3rd rated @ 25/1, bigger in places. And Highfield Princess is 4th rated and the market favourite. It's too short in what looks like a reasonably good race. I wouldn't be surprised to see something at a price take this, so we are taking the shortie on with each-way bets on the higher prices, given the closeness in the ratings of the top 4.
Amanzoe is the top-rated, standout horse in this race. Current available @ 9/2 in places. 2nd rated is Rowayeh, the current market favourite. 3rd rated is Sisyphus Strength at 11/2 generally available. With support starting to come through, I expect it may shorten. 4th rated is Sirona @ 8/1 or thereabouts with Ryan Moore onboard. There is very clear distance between the top-rated and the rest of the selections, so it will be interesting to see if the result validates the rating we have produced.
Battle Cry @ 8/1 or better is top-rated and the standout on the ratings. Castle In The Sand @ 9/1 if you shop around is the 2nd rated. Kings Valley @ 7/2 is short enough now at the price and is 3rd rated. Al Waasl is the biggie in this race @ 25/1 or better and is the 4th rated. We have gone 3 against the market in this race: Battle Cry, Castle In The Sand, and Al Waasl.
The last race of the day, get out of trouble if you need it so hopefully we can find something at a price to do the business. The 2 at the top of the ratings are Tafreej @ 11/2 generally is top rated. Closely rated with the 2nd Enfjaar @ 13/2 or better available. 3rd rated is Alzahir at a big price of 25/1 or better. And 4th rated is Dear My Friend @ 16/1.
Action Point, 3rd Rated, is coming in for some early support @ 10/1 or shorter now.
Resonance @ 8/1 and shortening looks a good price each way. Highest rated by very clear distance.
Speriamo, 2nd rated @ 8/1 or better in a race that is close in the top 4 ratings is showing up as positive.
Burglar @ 9/2 - 5/1 generally is the each-way steal, 2nd rated behind the very short-price favourite Measured Time. The 2 at the top of the ratings are well clear of the rest.
Champagne City @ 16/1 or bigger available, is standing out as 2nd rated behind the top rated, the clear current market favourite, Trooper Bisdee.
Storm Alice @ 12/1 is standing out in the ratings at the price for value here against a very short-price favourite who only just scrapes into the top 4 ratings and despite what the market says, could be opposable.
Esmeray, the very short-price favourite is top-rated in this race, but not by a clear margin. Lurking in the shadows is It's Marvellous @ 11/2 or better and this one represents much better value.
Show Of Hands is a big price in this race, for a horse that's 2nd rated. Not a huge amount of distance between the top 3 rated, and of them, at 12/1 this one is interesting.
The Bowen's team up on the marginally top-rated, Supposetobe @ 10/1 or better. Close at the top of the ratings between Supposetobe, Blindedbythelights, and Roost.

Never even considered that, but being an Epsom man I find that quite heart-warming. Give them the horses and they can train big winners - well done Adam West and team👏👏👏
